Hello everyone. One of the things I wanted to do is provide some great guest posters on my blog and today I’m really excited and honored to have one of the most wanted guest posters in the blogging community, Enstine Muki! I met Enstine through blogging and I’m thrilled that he is my guest today.
Enstine is a professional income earner making money online and he’s going to tell us today about Affiliate or Sponsored Product Review? So without further ado, please welcome Enstine.
One of the ways to make money blogging is to create blog posts that generate income. I know most of us are used to traditional banner advertising and link sales. Well, link sales used to be hot in the past before Google stepped in with a penalty.
If you still sell links on your blog, don’t say I didn’t warn you by the time Google comes visiting with a package you are not ready to receive as gift.
Creating money making articles that make money over and over again should be the dream of every blogger. But the big question is who do these articles make money for? For the blog owner or the advertisers?
Sometimes we get so excited when we get that once off payment of $200 from an advertiser. This is great and can help resolve a standing problem. But what about the future?
I want us to look at 2 types of product review blog posts that make money. By the end of this post, I’d like you to tell me which is better and why.
Sponsored Product Reviews
This as a matter of fact, is one of the best ways bloggers generate income with their blogs. If you check out my income reports, you’ll find out that at the moment of writing this post, it’s the highest income earner for my blog. (But I’m working to change this)
A couple of times, I have been paid $350 and more per post. Sometimes, I accept less depending on a couple of factors:
NB: Check out this guest post on Harleena’s Aha!now where I discussed how to cook an irresistible advertising package that will be difficult for advertisers to reject. The more value you add in the package, the more you charge for it.
Sponsored post can really be a huge income generating blog posts. Some blogs charge as big as $5000 per post. Depending on the traffic and exposure they deliver, some advertisers don’t find it difficult to buy such packages.
Generally, the more traffic and engagement you get on your blog, the more you are able to charge per post. Sue Anne in this post on her blog discussed some more points to consider while charging per post on your blog.
Most of my review posts get really well positioned on Google. I have done up to 4 reviews for a single client in just 1 year because of the results that client gets. There are actually more clients that have come back to me 2 or 3 times to announce their product updates or simply talk about their new thing in the market.
But Here Is the Problem:
I get paid once for the job while the clients keep 100% of the revenue my blog generates in short and long terms, leaving me with nothing more.
Years after the instant Payment from the clients, I will still have to fight to keep my blog going – paying hosting bills, renewing domain names, driving more traffic, etc and the client keeps getting the traffic and sales from me, this time paying me nothing.
Do you see the issue with sponsored blog posts?
What if you don’t get clients the following month? That means your income will drop to $0. But let’s see how to avoid this and make our blogs a recurring income generator.
Affiliate Products Review
When it comes to monetizing your blog for long term earnings, this is by far the best thing to do. You simply review products that are targeted to your audience and link to them on your affiliate links. That means any sales generated; you are paid your commissions.
You will not get any instant payment like you do from sponsored post. However, the income you generate in the long run definitely amounts up to more than what most advertisers pay instantly per post.
That’s the beauty with affiliate product reviews! You keep making money even when you are away. If no advertisers contact you for sponsored posts, you are still sure your income is on the way.
Now, if you want to make it more exciting, focus on reviewing affiliate products that pay recurring income. That means you make the sales once but the commission keeps coming in month after month.
A Rare Case!
Now, I have come across quite few cases where advertisers permitted me to use my affiliate links on paid posts. You don’t get this often but if you are lucky to seal such a deal, that will really be awesome. It simply means you get paid instantly by the advertiser and the more sales you generate, the more money you make in the long run.
In January this year, I submitted this guest post on PAC on how to make money with Affiliate Marketing. Shortly after that, I submitted another post on Donna Merrill’s blog where I discussed 3 little know tricks to earn more affiliate commission. You may want to check out the post here. These will give you more useful materials on monetizing your blog with affiliate products.
