How To Create A Signature For Your Blog

A year or so ago, I read a post on Adrienne Smith’s blog and I thought it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever read.  It involved creating our own signature for our posts on our blogs.

I thought it was the coolest thing and immediately went there to try it out.  So just recently when I started having issues with my blog, my signature no longer worked and I decided to go to the site again and create another signature block for my posts.

But before I did that I took a look at other blogs of people I know and I noticed that practically no one was taking advantage of this very cool tool!  So let me tell you why, as bloggers, we should use this tool to create and design a professional signature for our posts.

I work in Corporate and as a professional doing business, your signature is important.  It defines and seals who you are.  Our signature is the sign that binds us.  We use it and sign our checks, our bank transactions, our mortgages, loans, leases, etc.

As business owners we talk about ‘branding’ ourselves.  It doesn’t seem like rocket science to me that our ‘name/signature’ should be an important part of our brand.

It makes us look, first and foremost, professional, important, classy (as least I think so) and committed to excellence.

Our signature is incredibly important in our life in terms of binding contracts.  So why aren’t we using a ‘signature,’ not just typing in our name when we write our posts on our blog?  Why haven’t you used this very, cool tool?  Come on tell the truth. 🙂  Do you know about it?

Well, let me show you how easy it is to create your own signature for your posts.   Here are the 10 super quick and easy steps to create your signature.

1.  Go to  The first thing you want to do is register (no affiliate link here – it’s all free) so that your generated code will be saved and you can come back and create others or retrieve your signature when you want it.

2.  After you register, click on New Signature.

3.  Select the font  you’d like your signature to be.  Click the radio button.  There are many to choose from.

4.  Select the font size  you’d like your signature to be.  Click the radio button.  I like Font Size #2 but you can make it bigger.livesignature-3

5.  Select the slope or how you want your signature to lean.  livesignature-56.  Give your signature a Name so you can come back later and retrieve it if you wish OR so you can select from different signatures if you choose to create more than one.  I think it creates style when you can use different signatures for  your blog, email, etc.

7.  After  you’ve created your design, you can now generate the code to input into your blog.

8.  Select the name of the Live Signature you’ve created.

9.   Copy the code into a text file and save.

10.  Make sure you put the html code into your ‘Text’ view when you copy your html signature code in.   I have save the code to a file and I just copy it out each time and add to my post.

So Viola!  That’s all there is to it.  Simple and easy and very cool.   Take a look at my signature below.  I think this handy, dandy little tool adds character to our branding.  Just my personal opinion.  😉

I hope you all decide to check it out.  It really is pretty neat.  So I expect to see more signatures to the posts I visit in the future! 🙂

Are you going to try it? Leave a comment and let me know and I’ll visit your blog to see your now new signature on your post!  Have fun with it!

      Hi Gladys,

I was thinking of you the other day. Miss talking to you but life has gotten so busy for all of us. It has been a long time.
You should definitely try the signature. Very easy and then copy and paste into your post (remember the ‘text’ view).
If you have any problems or need help, holla at me and I’ll be right there for you, but I think you’ve got this! 😉
Please, please, please let’s talk soon.

    Hi Barbara

I should revisit this too. I had a signature working at one stage and then also had some difficulties with plugins and that was one that got disabled.

Your tutorial is great and easy to follow.

Your blog is looking good Barbara and I take it all your “issues” are behind you.

Thanks for showing us this one as you are so correct in that our signature is part of our branding,

      Hi Sue,

I loved it when I tried it and now use it on all my posts. I’ve been having some difficulty with my posting (one of my plugins, I’m assuming) so I hadn’t had my signature there for a while, but wanted to get back to it. I’m going to really work on another theme now (part of my blog rehab 🙂

My issues – still there – just won’t let it get me down for long! Glad you found the signature post useful.
      Talk to you very soon.

    Hi Barbara,

So that’s how you do it! Thanks for this great step-by-step tutorial of how to! You know me….I get all confused when I have to do something like this, but you have made it so easy to do!

When I changed my blog over, I had to decide if I wanted to put my signature on it. I’m still weighing this. I’m so paranoid about putting this in public. Go figure…maybe I need another dose of therapy…I know I’m over thinking it. But if I decide to do it, I can always come back here to do so.

    Thank you my dear!

      Hey Donna,

I love easy too and this is super easy to do. Now – you just have to go and DO IT! 🙂 It’s not your real signature – it’s a facsimile that you choose from the ones there. It’s really awesome and you’ll love it when you see it next to your name in your blog. It’s gives our story’s character! Just do one post – see what it looks like, then decide. I think you’ll love it and it’s very cool. Listen to Dr. Barbara now o.k.? 🙂 Don’t overthink it. Just try it once. You’ve got the link. If you want me to do it for you, I can help and then just send you the code. Always want to help out my peeps!

      Lov ya,

    Hi Barbara,
I trust you are well! I’m grateful to you for sharing this. I wondered about this a while ago, and now I have an answer to look at. I think what would even make Live Signature even better is if you are able to embed your Google authorship in your created signature. What do you think about this?

      Hi Bill,

I’m doing well thanks and I hope you are as well. Yes, give live signature and try and see the many things it can do. Very soon I’m sure they’ll figure out they need to be able to embed in Google authorship. I think it’s a great idea. Works for me! 🙂
Send them a message? Think they’ll listen? Make sure you get credit! 😉

      Have a great week.

    Nice job Barbara!

It’s so nice when instructors say something is simple and it really is! And you are so right about the really professional feel that having a signature adds to your blog posts! I had been neglecting to add mine for far too long, until recently!

And boy am I glad I did. I just noticed that all of my really successful coaches and mentors had them.

So that meant I had to get with the program already! Thanks for sharing this excellent tutorial. I’ll be sure and help the word out too!

      Take care,

Has it been a year now since we talking about that Barbara? Wow, I guess it has and probably even longer.

I think a signature is important which is why I still have mine and the easiest way possible to me is the best way.

This was a great share and instructions on how to do this. I hope that everyone will go this route now since it’s so easy to do. Beats a plugin that’s for sure.

    Great share!

      Hi Adrienne,

May have been more than a year, but I’ve used it since I found out from you. I was surprised so many people *don’t* use it. It’s very important that people know who we are and a signature makes us classy! 🙂 Thanks – just wanted to share with people and keep it easy. I too hope others take a look at it. And yeah…I’m having problems with my plugins and that 404 thingie! Ugh!

    Hey Barbara,

I remember reading about this some years ago and I did have a signature on my blog posts until I got some malware a couple of years ago. So I did take it off. Why did I do that? I have no idea LOL… why didn’t I put it back on? Well I forgot the website and didn’t bookmark it, so now I have no excuse not to put it back on my blog! Thanks for sharing this post with the step by step instruction on how to set up a signature!

Have a great rest of the week!

LOL! You’re funny! What I like about this is that the website generates the code in html so you shouldn’t get any malware once you create it. You’ve got the link now so hope it helps. If you need any help, let me know.

      Take care and enjoy!

p.s.: I’ll be visiting to check out your new signature block! 🙂

    Hey Barbara,
This is so cool. I remember Adrienne posting about this some time back, but I never took the time to implement it. Thanks for bringing it back in motion again. I just followed your easy steps and now I’ve created a signature. I can’t wait to use it. Now, if I could figure out how to add a bio to my picture, I’d be ready to go. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care, Lisa

      Hi Lisa,

So glad you got a chance to implement it again this time. I actually did it for a long time, then I started having trouble with my blog. I had to go back in an re-create it and now it’s back. I think it’s awesome! Thanks for stopping by. We haven’t chatted for a long time. Hope all is well with you. 🙂

Maybe my next post should be how to ‘add a bio to your pic!’ 🙂
